Certain foods and beverages contain concentrated amounts of purines.  In general, high-purine foods are also high-protein foods and as purines are metabolized they turn into uric acid in your body. Examples of purine-rich food include seafood, meat, beer, and foods and drinks with high levels of fructose (sugar). Watching what you eat and drink are the first steps in controlling gout symptoms. However, gout attacks can occur regardless of what you eat or drink.
